Woman Sexually Assaulted In Lincoln Park Home

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Authorities have issued a warning to women living in Lincoln Park, after a woman was raped in her apartment, by an attacker who followed her home from a nearby bar.

The 24-year-old woman was taken to a hospital after the attack early Monday morning, inside an apartment building near Clark Street and Arlington Place.

Police said the woman reported a person she met at a nearby bar followed her home to her apartment and sexually assaulted her. Around 1 a.m. Monday, she came running out of her apartment, calling for help, and neighbors were able to assist her.

In a notice to local residents, Ald. Michele Smith (43rd) said, "this case is under investigation, and is being handled with the utmost care to protect the victim and the neighborhood."

The victim reportedly suffered a cut to her leg, and was treated and released at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

No one was in custody Wednesday morning.
