Woman Sexually Assaulted In Her Arlington Heights Home
(CBS) – The northwestern suburb of Arlington Heights is on alert after a woman was sexually assaulted in her home early Thursday.

Police issued a community alert because of the nature of this crime and also how the man entered the woman's house. With the pleasant fall temperatures, many people leave their windows open at night.
The assault happened at 2 a.m.
Stefan Potuznik, the victim's pastor, says she is doing OK.
Arlington Heights detectives canvassed the area near the 2400 block of South Embers Lane, where the sexual assault happened. After the crime, the man took jewelry from the woman's home. Police say he entered the house through an unsecured window.
"We're asking that residents make sure their homes are locked and secured and, in particular, accessible windows should be locked. Or they should have stops in place to limit how far a window can be opened," Cmdr. Nathan Hayes said.
Residents were disturbed at the news.
"I have a wife at home. She's in a wheelchair, so, I'm a little concerned about that," longtime resident Jim Rutherford said. "This is a pretty quiet community. At least it used to be, so I'm very concerned about it."
