Woman Seriously Injured In Belmont Cragin Crash

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 21-year-old woman was seriously injured after a vehicle struck her parked car Wednesday night in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The crash happened at 9:40 p.m. in the 6000 block of West Fullerton Avenue, police said.

The woman was sitting in a parked Mazda Protege when a speeding Honda Acccord heading west swerved into oncoming traffic and struck the Mazda, police said.

The collision made the Mazda jump the curb and hit a tree, police said.

The woman and the driver of the Honda, a 23-year-old man, were taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. The woman was in serious condition, and the man's condition was stabilized, police said.

There were no charges filed as of early Thursday.
