Woman Dies After Jumping Out Of SUV On Bishop Ford

UPDATE: 2:51 p.m.

(CBS) -- A woman has died after jumping out of an SUV traveling northbound on the Bishop Ford Freeway Saturday morning, according to Illinois State Police.

Police say the 34-year-old woman was a passenger in a blue Ford Escape driven by her mother travelling north on I-94 just south of 130th Street when around 10:45 a.m., she jumped out of the vehicle and onto the freeway for unknown reasons, police said. There was no indication that she was pushed out of the vehicle.

The woman was transported to Christ Hospital with serious life threatening injuries and later pronounced dead.

Police say the woman was struck by at least one vehicle, which did not stay at the scene and may have been unaware they struck the woman.

Police are investigating and anyone with information on the accident is asked to call Illinois State Police District Chicago at (847) 294-4400.
