Woman Jumps Out Of Moving Car To Escape Rape Attempt

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A woman was able to escape an attempted sexual assault in the Albany Park neighborhood on Tuesday by jumping out of a moving car.

The woman was waiting for a bus at the intersection of Montrose and Kimball avenues around 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, when two men drove up in a small silver sedan, police said. The men then circled around, pulled into a nearby parking lot, and tried to convince the woman to get in the car.

One of the men then walked over, grabbed the woman's arm, and forced her into the back seat. They then drove away, headed east on Montrose.

The man in the back seat tried to sexually assault the woman, who jumped out of the moving car near the intersection of Cullom and Western avenues, about a mile and a half away.

Police provided only vague descriptions of the two men, but did get a photo of the car (seen above).

Anyone with information about the suspects should call Area North detectives at 312-744-8261. Anonymous tips can be submitted to tipsoft.com
