Woman Injured After Shots Fired In South Shore

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 60-year-old woman was injured after shots were fired Saturday morning in the South Shore neighborhood on the South Side.

The woman was standing outside about 7:25 a.m. in the 2000 block of East 71st when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired at a group of men standing nearby, according to Chicago Police.

She suffered a scratch to the face that investigators initially referred to as a graze wound, police said. However, medical personnel were unable to determine whether the scratch was caused by a bullet or other debris, and the incident is being investigated as an aggravated assault.

An acquaintance drove the woman to Jackson Park Hospital, where she was treated and released, police said.
