SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (CBS) -- A man has been charged in the murder of a woman who was found stabbed to death in Schaumburg.

Around 9 p.m. on March 1, police were called for a wellbeing check at 1004 N. Plum Grove Rd. They walked in and found a woman dead, police said.

An autopsy by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office Thursday determined the woman was stabbed to death in a homicide. She is identified as Yvonne Lattouf-Delgado, 24.

Police discovered Jesus Gomez-Marcano, 26, had dated Lattouf-Delgado for three years. Investigators determined he was at the victim's residence "during which time Gomez-Marcano pushed the victim to the ground and stabbed her in the neck."

He was charged with first-degree murder and will appear in court Monday.

Anyone with information should call the Schaumburg Police Department Tip Line at (847) 348-7055.
