Woman Found Fatally Shot In Vehicle In Homan Square

CHICAGO (CBS)-- A woman was found dead in a vehicle on the West Side of Chicago.

She was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head in the 3600 block of West Polk Street in Homan Square.

Police said at 8:25 p.m. Monday, the woman was in a parked vehicle amongst a group of male acquaintances, when occupants of a white sport-utility vehicle headed west on Polk Street began shooting at the group seated in the vehicle.

The woman was struck in the head by bullets, and shots also struck surrounding vehicles and residential buildings.

The woman was identified as Vanisha Patrick.

Police are investigating her death as a homicide.
