Woman Finds Hidden Camera In Bedroom In Wrigleyville

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A North Side woman was shocked to discover Monday afternoon that someone had placed a hidden camera in a vent in her bedroom in Wrigleyville.

Police were on the scene in the 1100 block of West Eddy Street on Tuesday morning, after searching her apartment for evidence of how the camera got there.

The 20-year-old woman called police around 4 p.m. Monday, after finding a hidden video camera in the vent in the bedroom of her apartment.

Police found and confiscated the camera, which had been attached to wires that led into a locked basement.

"There is an ongoing police investigation, we're waiting for the results of the search warrants and we all want to make sure that first of all she is safe, her building is safe, " said 44th Ward Alderman Tom Tunney.

Sources said police were waiting for a search warrant to access that basement area, and seize any recording devices that might be inside.

CBS 2's calls to the building owner for comment have not been returned.
