Woman Dies After Semi Slams Into Car In Aurora
(CBS) -- A 33-year-old woman died two days after a semi slammed into her car Thursday evening in west suburban Aurora.
Erin Buck was driving her 2011 Hyundai Elantra west on Heggs Road when she began to "inch out" from the stop sign at Route 30 about 4:50 p.m. Thursday, according to Aurora city spokesman Dan Ferrelli. She then pulled out in front of a Freightliner semi truck that was heading north on Route 30.
The driver of the semi hit the brakes and swerved to try to avoid hitting Buck's car, but ended up t-boning the Elantra on the driver's side, Ferrelli said.
Buck, of the 4300 block of Odonahue Drive in Joliet, was extricated from the car by Aurora firefighters and taken to Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, Ferrelli said. She died at Copley at 2:20 p.m. Saturday.
The driver of the semi, a 58-year-old New Jersey man, was not hurt in the crash, Ferrelli said.
Aurora police and the Illinois State Police are investigating.
