Woman Charged Following Discovery Of Dog-Hoarding In Glencoe

(CBS) – Authorities in north suburban Glencoe have filed misdemeanor charges in connection with the discovery of more than 30 dogs in a single home last week.

Jeanne Harper, who occupied 861 Greenwood Avenue, faces six charges, including three counts of cruel treatment of companion animals, the Glencoe Public Safety Department said in a news release Monday. No further information was available about Harper.

On May 13, officials conducted a well-being check at Harper's address and removed 35 dogs from the residence. Many were in poor health and were living in horrible conditions, animal-welfare advocates told the media over the weekend. The dogs ended up in two veterinary clinics.

A gofundme page has been set up to help the rescued animals.
