Woman, 74, Killed By Truck In Gold Coast
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 74-year-old woman died after she was struck by a truck Tuesday morning in the Gold Coast neighborhood on the Near North Side.
The woman was struck by a turning truck in the 1100 block of North LaSalle Street at 11:55 a.m., according to Chicago Police.
Georgiana Henley, of the 300 block of West Hill Street, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 2:05 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The truck driver was taken into custody and charges are pending, police said. The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating.
