Woman, 65, Shot During Attempted Robbery In Auburn Gresham

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 65-year-old woman was shot early Thursday during an attempted robbery in the South Side Auburn Gresham neighborhood.

She was standing at a bus stop in the 8200 block of South Ashland at 12:39 a.m. when a male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt walked up and announced a robbery, according to Chicago Police. When she attempted to pull pepper spray out of her purse, the suspect shot her in the arm and side.

She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where her condition was stabilized, police said.
