Woman, 33, Found Stabbed To Death In Berwyn

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A woman was found stabbed to death in her home on Thursday in west suburban Berwyn, authorities said.

The 33-year-old woman was found about 10:30 a.m. in her basement apartment in the 2100 block of South Scoville, according to Giordano Manfredini of the Berwyn Police Department and the Cook County medical examiner's office. She suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at 11:04 a.m.

Her name was not released by the medical examiner's office pending notification of family.

An autopsy on Friday showed she died of multiple stab wounds and her death was ruled a homicide.

"Our investigation is active and ongoing, but based on the information obtained thus far, there is no apparent threat to the greater public at this time," Manfredini said in a statement.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police department's Criminal Investigations Unit at (708) 795-5600.
