Woman, 19, Killed In Washington Park Shooting

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A young woman is dead after being shot in the Washington Park neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.

The 19-year-old woman was on the street in the 300 block of East 56th Street when a known assailant came up and fired shots, police said.

The woman was struck once in the back and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

No one was in custody Tuesday evening. Area One detectives were investigating.
