With Earth Day Approaching, Will County Residents Urged To Bring In Waste For 'Recyclepalooza'

(CBS) -- Earth Day is a few weeks away (April 22nd) and so Will County is launching "Recyclepalooza."

Tammy Reiher, Public Information Officer for Will County, says the first Recyclepalooza event is April 11 at Joliet Junior College.

She says they're looking for electronics, foam plastics, carpet and padding, just about everything.

"If you have some of this stuff, take it out to these events because we don't know how many we will be able to fund this year and of course it is a great way to honor Earth Day's 45th Anniversary," Reiher said.
People can also bring in their old American flags.

"They will just accept these flags and people understand that they will be disposed of according to the flag codes for the United States," Reiher said.

That code says unusable American flags should be, "Destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning."

"Our flag us supposed to be treated with respect," Reiher.
