With Dropping Temperatures, Light Snow Possible Tonight

CHICAGO (CBS) -- More showers and thunderstorms were expected across northern Illinois and northwest Indiana Thursday afternoon, and as temperatures continue to grow colder, the rain could shift to snow by evening.

A line of storms moving through the region late Thursday morning could bring a few rumbles of thunder and even some heavy downpours, and with temperatures near freezing far west of Chicago, the storm was beginning to transition to snow in some areas.

As temperatures drop through the afternoon, rain could shift to snow for the Chicago area as well, producing up to half an inch north and west of the city.

Sunshine should return on Friday, as temperatures climb into the upper 40s.

Temperatures will get even better on Saturday, with a high around 55, but a few showers could return in the evening.

Chances for rain increase to about 50-50 on Easter Sunday, and temperatures will be a bit chilly, with a high around 49.
