Joliet Witches Night Out: 'It's Going To Be A Sight'

JOLIET (CBS) -- Picture 1,300 witches in the same room. That will be the scene this evening at the 6th annual Witches Night Out in Joliet.

It's pretty much a women-only event. A fundraiser for women's charities in Will County. And witches' costumes are de rigueur.

"Yes, and I'll tell you it's going to be a sight to see," said Kathy Mihelich, the co-chair of Witches Night Out.

"This is like going to the prom. People are getting their hair done. They're getting their makeup done."

People don't usually picture witches getting their hair done.

"The ones that are the divas, they get their hair and makeup done."

Mihelich was one of the organizers of the Witches Night Out benefit six years ago.

Why the witch theme?

"In my entire lifetime I had never been a witch for Halloween and I was 60 years old and I had never been a witch. And now I've been a witch for the last six years."

She says the benefit will raise about $35,000 for organizations that help women.
