Wisconsin Man Convicted Of Taking Girl To Illinois For Prostitution

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A Milwaukee man was convicted in federal court Thursday of taking a 15-year-old girl from Wisconsin to Illinois, where he forced her into prostitution.

After a three-day trial, 32-year-old Dajuan Key was convicted of one count of knowingly transporting a minor across state lines to engage in prostitution, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's office. He faces 10 years to life in prison.

Key met the girl online before he picked her up in Madison, Wisconsin in September 2013, prosecutors said. He brought her to southwest suburban Romeoville where he forced her to perform sex acts for pay and kept all the money.

He took photos of the girl, provided her with lingerie, posted advertisements on Backpage.com, and rented hotel rooms for the sexual encounters with those who responded, prosecutors said.

Romeoville police found the girl on Sept. 10 2013 and arrested Key, prosecutors said.

Key is scheduled to be sentenced May 23.
