Winthrop Harbor Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting Teen

CHICAGO (STMW) -- An 18-year-old Winthrop Harbor man has been charged with sexually assaulting a teenager in the northern suburb.

Tyler J. Smith was charged with criminal sexual assault with use of force, criminal sexual abuse and unlawful possession of cannabis, according to a statement from Winthrop Harbor police.

The victim, a 15-year-old, reported the assault at Vista East Medical Center on Feb. 7, according to police.

Smith was arrested and taken to the Lake County Jail where he is being held pending a bond hearing, according to police
