Winter Storm Warning Remains In Effect Until Midnight For Chicagoland

CHICAGO (CBS) – The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning on Saturday that remains in effect until midnight on Sunday night.

As of an update at 3:40 p.m., DuPage, Cook, Will, Lake, McHenry, DeKalb, Kane, LaSalle, Kendall, Grundy and Porter, Indiana counties the Winter Storm Warning remain in effect until midnight on Sunday. There will be an additional 2 to 4 inches of snow accumulation expected through Sunday evening. This is result in a storm total of 5 to 10 inches in these areas.

As of an update at 3:40 p.m., Winnebago, Boone, McHenry, Ogle, and Lee counties the Winter Storm Warning remain in effect until 9 p.m. on Sunday. There will be an additional 1 to 3 inches of snow accumulation expected through Sunday evening. This is result in a storm total of 4 to 8 inches in these areas.

As of an update at 3:30 p.m., a Winter Storm Warning remains in affect in areas in Northwest Indiana until 4 a.m. EST/ 3 a.m. CST Monday morning.

This is bring hazardous weather. There will be an additional 1 to 3 inches of snow accumulation expected through Monday morning. This will result in a storm total of 6 to 10 inches in these areas.

Periods of snow will continue into late Sunday evening. Roads will be snow covered and slippery throughout Sunday night.

Period of snow will persist throughout Sunday evening, with snowfall heavy at times.

The National Weather Service warns of reduced visibility during heavier snow fall, likely below a mile at times.

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions. Significant amount of snow will make traveling difficult. The NWS recommends to only travel if it is an emergency.
