Wind Advisory Issued For Chicago Area

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Hold on to your hats. Chicago will live up to its nickname as the Windy City on Tuesday, with gusts of up to 50 miles per hour.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the entire Chicago area from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., due to sustained winds out of the west between 25 and 35 mph. Forecasters said there could be frequent gusts of up to 45 mph, and a few gusts of 50 mph.

The high winds could make driving difficult, especially along north-south roads, and in taller vehicles.

If you've got patio furniture outside, make sure it's tied down.

On top of the windy conditions, temperatures will be cooler than normal. Tuesday's high will be only about 54 degrees, compared to an average high of 61 in Chicago on April 21.
