1 killed, 2 injured when car crashes into pond in Will County, Illinois

CHICAGO (CBS) -- One person has died and two others were injured when a car crashed into a pond early Wednesday near southwest suburban Lemont.

Around 2:10 a.m., Will County Sheriff's deputies responded to a crash near 135th Street and Archer Avenue, after a car veered off the road and went into a retention pond.

One person in the car was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were taken to the hospital; one was in critical condition, and the other had non-life-threatening injuries.

Sheriff's officials said 135th Street would be closed between Archer Avenue and Gordon Lane while the crash is under investigation.
