Whitecaps And Fire Play To 0-0 Draw

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (AP) — Chicago goalkeeper Sean Johnson made a second half save to preserve the Fire's 0-0 tie with the Vancouver Whitecaps on Wednesday night.

Vancouver's Erik Hurtado had the Whitecaps' best chance of the game in the 49th minute. He broke free of the defenders and cut to the center of the box, but his right-footed effort was knocked aside by Johnson.

It was Johnson's third shutout of the season and Vancouver goalkeeper David Ousted's fifth. They each made two saves.

The Fire's best opportunity came in the ninth minute, but Mike Magee barely missed from just outside the box with a free kick.

Chicago is 3-5-12, and Vancouver 6-4-11. The teams rank first and second in MLS in ties. It marks the third 0-0 tie for Vancouver and second for Chicago.
