White Sox's McEwing To Interview For Diamondbacks' Manager Job

(CBS) White Sox third-base coach Joe McEwing has been granted permission by management to interview for the open Diamondbacks managerial position.

The Arizona job opened recently when Kirk Gibson was fired.

McEwing has been Chicago's third-base coach for the past three seasons and spent the last seven years in the organizations. He has experience as a manager at the Single-A and Triple-A levels.

The other candidates interviewing for the Diamondbacks job include Sandy Alomar Jr., Jay Bell, Andy Green, Phil Nevin, Jim Tracy and Turner Ward.

McEwing is considered a "strong candidate," according to CBS Sports MLB insider Jon Heyman.
