White Sox Recall Erik Johnson, Officially Designate John Danks For Assignment

(CBS) The White Sox will start right-handed pitcher Erik Johnson on Thursday against the Red Sox, as made official by a series of roster moves prior to the game.

Pitcher Jake Petricka was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 2 with a right hip impingement. The White Sox called up right-handed pitcher Tommy Kahnle in a corresponding move.

Additionally, the White Sox officially designated pitcher John Danks for assignment, recalling Johnson from Triple-A Charlotte, where he's 1-1 with a 3.74 ERA this season. He went 3-1 with a 3.34 ERA in 35 innings and six starts last season.

The White Sox host the Red Sox on Thursday in Game 3 of their series, which is even 1-1. They host the Twins for a three-game series this weekend at U.S. Cellular Field.
