White Sox Option RHP Carson Fulmer To Triple-A

(CBS) The White Sox optioned rookie right-hander Carson Fulmer to Triple-A Charlotte after Tuesday night's loss to the Indians.

The 22-year-old Fulmer registered an 8.49 ERA in eight relief appearances for Chicago since being called up on July 15. He projects as a starter in the future and will take on that role back in the minor leagues, with the chance to be called back up and start for the White Sox in September on the table as well.

Fulmer was the eighth overall pick in the 2015 amateur draft and the first player from his class to reach the big leagues. He had a 4.76 ERA in 17 starts at Double-A Birmingham earlier this season.

With Fulmer demoted, the White Sox will promote right-hander Anthony Ranaudo to start against the Indians on Wednesday.
