White Sox OF Garcia Tears Labrum, Will Undergo Season-Ending Surgery

(CBS) White Sox outfielder Avisail Garcia will miss the rest of the season after tearing the labrum in his left shoulder, the team announced Thursday afternoon. He's schedule to undergo season-ending surgery within the next week.

The 22-year-old Garcia suffered the injury while trying to make a diving catch in the sixth inning of Wednesday's loss to the Rockies. With great power potential and a dangerous bat, he was expected to be a cornerstone of the White Sox this season.

Garcia was batting .267 with two homers, four RBIs and six runs in eight games this season.

The White Sox recalled outfielder Jordan Danks from Triple-A Charlotte to take Garcia's spot. The 27-year-old Danks almost made the big league roster out of spring training after hitting .333 with a team-best five homers and 10 RBIs. He was 4-of-22 in six games in Triple-A this year.
