Chicago White Sox face Toronto Blue Jays in home opener Friday after game postponed for storms

Getting ready for the White Sox Home Opener

The White Sox are getting ready to host the Toronto Blue Jays for their first home game of 2026. 

The game was originally set for Thursday, but was postponed due to severe weather

The team unveiled their starting lineup, with Grant Taylor as starting pitcher. Munetaka Murakami will play first base, Chase Meidroth on second base, Miguel Vargas on third base and shortstop Colson Montgomery rounding out the infield. In the outfield will be Austin Hays in left field, Tristan Peters in right field and Luisangel Acuna in center field. Edgar Quero will be their catcher and Andrew Benintendi is the designated hitter. 

Chance the Rapper will join fans at the game to throw out the first pitch at 1:10 p.m. at Rate Field. Chicago's beloved Leo High School choir will sing the national anthem. 

Mobile tickets are standard at Rate Field; you have to have tickets loaded when going through the gates.  

The first 20,000 fans will get a special Opening Day t-shirt.
