White Sox Designate Javy Guerra For Assignment

(CBS) The White Sox have designated right-handed reliever Javy Guerra for assignment after reinstating him from the disabled list, they announced Wednesday afternoon.

Guerra had been on the DL with right shoulder inflammation and had a 17.18 ERA in four appearances with Triple-A Charlotte on his rehab assignment. He threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings for the White Sox earlier this season before getting hurt. He had a 2.91 ERA for Chicago in 42 appearances in 2014.

The White Sox will have the option to place Guerra on waivers, trade him, release him or reinstate him to the 40-man roster. If he clears waivers, he can be outrighted to the minor leagues as well.
