White Sox Call Up 4 Players As Rosters Expand

(CBS) With September upon us and rosters expanding, the White Sox added four players from the minor leagues Tuesday.

Chicago called up right-hander Erik Johnson, infielder Leury Garcia and catcher Rob Brantly from Triple-A Charlotte. It also called up right-hander Frankie Montas from Double-A Birmingham.

Johnson, 25, was 11-8 with a 2.37 ERA and 1.12 WHIP at Triple-A this season. His ERA and WHIP led the International League.

Garcia, 24, was 2-of-6 in seven games with the White Sox earlier this season. He hit .298 with three homers and 31 RBIs in 90 games at Charlotte.

Brantly, 26, hit .310 with eight homers and 38 RBIs in 53 games at Charlotte.

Montas, 22, was 5-5 with a 2.97 ERA at Birmingham this season. He had 108 strikeouts in 112 innings and compiled an 1.22 WHIP that ranked fifth in the Southern League.
