White Sox Call Up 2B Carlos Sanchez

(CBS) As expected, the White Sox have promoted second baseman Carlos Sanchez from Triple-A to join them ahead of Friday night's road contest against the Athletics.

The move comes one day after Chicago demoted second baseman Micah Johnson, who was hitting .270 with a .333 on-base percentage, no homers, three RBIs and eight runs in 27 games.

The 22-year-old Sanchez was hitting .344 with 10 doubles, two home runs, 17 RBI and 17 runs scored in 29 games at Charlotte this season. He made the Opening Day roster for the White Sox, going 2-for-3 in his only appearance of the season, on April 8, before being sent down to Triple-A. Sanchez hit .250 in 28 games for the White Sox in 2014.
