Man On Bike Shoots At Police In West Ridge

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago Police were searching for a man who fired shots at officers in the West Ridge neighborhood early Wednesday.

Police said, around 12:30 a.m., two officers in an unmarked squad car were driving east near Peterson and Washtenaw avenues, when a man on a bicycle began shouting gang slogans at them.

When the officers attempted to stop the man, he pointed a gun at them and fired several shots, striking the squad car, police said.

The officers were not wounded, and the suspect was able to get away on the bicycle, police said.

Area North detectives were investigating.
