West Chicago Homeowners Still Waiting For Water Bills

(CBS) -- It's a waiting game in West Chicago as homeowners continue to look for water bills that still haven't arrived, reports WBBM's Bernie Tafoya.

Some West Chicago homeowners haven't received a water bill in nearly a year. The bills have been trickling into mailboxes because they're being punched into a computer manually.

Mayor Ruben Pineda says residents had been notified long ago about a water meter software compatibility issue and he says that's nearly resolved, but he says smaller bills will be sent out every two months.

"We don't want to send out these large bills. Then we are going to get people who are going to be upset. We don't want to give them a $1,000 bill," said Pineda.

Mayor Pineda says West Chicago property owners will have a year to get caught up with what they owe.
