Waukegan Teachers Strike Continues

(CBS) -- Waukegan public school students will be out of class again on Tuesday.

Talks aimed at ending the strike, which began Oct. 2, adjourned shortly after 7 p.m. Monday night after starting at 10 a.m.  Talks are set to continue again on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. with a federal mediator.

Waukegan School District Unit 60 says on its website that the two sides recently arrived at tentative agreements on some salary-related issues, but a full resolution was not reached.

The strike affects more than 17,000 students and 1,200 teachers at 23 schools in the northern suburb.
