Waukegan Man Charged With Sexual Assault Of Child Younger Than 13

(STMW) -- A north suburban man previously convicted of a sex crime has been charged with the sexual assault of a boy under 13.

Jeffrey Morrow, 39, has been charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, unlawful use of a weapon, and aggravated criminal sexual abuse with a victim under 13, according to Waukegan police.

A woman came to the police department's 24-hour patrol front desk to report that her minor son was having inappropriate electronic contact with Morrow, according to police.

Detectives began investigating and executed a search warrant at Morrow's home in the 2000 block of Walnut Street on Tuesday, police said. After the search he was arrested.

Morrow was convicted of a sex crime in Zion in 1998 and was registered as a sexual offender in Winthrop Harbor until December 2007, police said. Investigators believe he moved to Waukegan after his requirement to register as a sex offender expired in February 2008.

Morrow is being held at the Lake County Jail on a $1 million bond and is next scheduled to appear in court Friday.

The investigation is ongoing, police said. Anyone who believes their child may have had contact with Morrow is asked to call Detective Tim Ives at (847) 599-2678.
