Water Main Break Causing Flooding In Bucktown Near Kennedy Expressway

CHICAGO (CBS)-- A water main break is causing flooding in Bucktown near the Kennedy Expressway.

According to the Water Management Department, an 8 inch water main broke at 1840 N. Marshfield Avenue. Officials said the water flooded a viaduct at 1900 N. Elston Avenue.

Crews brought in a vacuum truck to help get the water out of the flooded viaduct, and will start digging to perform repairs once the water has been cleared.

Drivers should avoid the area. The cause of the water main break is unknown at this time.

The No. 73 Armitage buses have been temporarily rerouted in both directions due to the flooding.
