Watch: Jeff Francoeur Was Tricked Into Believing His Triple-A Teammate Was Deaf

(CBS) In the history of pranks in baseball clubhouses, this one will go down as one of the most intricate.

Jeff Francoeur signed with the Padres in late March and was sent down to the Triple-A El Paso Chihuahuas. Soon after his arrival, his El Paso teammates decided to trick him into believing pitcher Jorge Reyes was deaf. This wasn't an overnight prank. Reyes and teammates went to great lengths to prolong the joke, as Reyes stayed mute and didn't listen to music on flights and in the clubhouse whenever Francoeur was around.

"He's the perfect guy to do this trick on because he does not pay attention to anything -- ever," El Paso infielder Brooks Conrad said of Francoeur.

You can watch how the prank played out in the video below, which was a worthy, well-done production to match the joke that was played.
