Watch: David Ross Hilariously Gave It His All To Score From 1st On Jon Lester's Double

(CBS) Cubs catcher David Ross authored a rare feat, by his standards, Tuesday night in his team's 6-1 win against the Reds at Wrigley Field.

The slow-footed Ross scored from first base on a double. That's significant because it was just the sixth time he'd done so in his 15-year career, and it came in hilarious fashion. Ross wasn't exactly expecting it with light-hitting pitcher Jon Lester at the plate.

By the time he got home, he needlessly slid and was out of breath. Ross called his finish a "collapse" more than a slide.

Ross got a laugh out of it afterward.

"Tell you what, (Lester) needs to tell me if he's going to swing first pitch and make me run first to home," Ross told reporters. "It's been a little while since I've had to do that. I think I've trained first to third, but that last 90 feet was not friendly for me."

Lester joined in on the fun later, saying he ordered his good friend Ross an oxygen tank.
