Man Surrenders After Police Say He Pointed Gun At Woman From Car In Bolingbrook

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (CBS) -- A man has surrendered to police in Bolingbrook, after police said he was seen pointing a gun at a driver in a suspected road rage incident earlier this week.

An arrest warrant on aggravated assault charges had been issued for Joseph P. Colonero, 33, of Aurora.

As CBS 2's Charlie De Mar reported, Colonero turned himself in at the Bolingbrook Police Department around 4:45 p.m., police said.

It appears after Colonero was identified, a deal was made with his attorney to have him surrender on his own.

Around 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, a woman reported that she was headed east on Boughton Road at Brighton Lane in Bolingbrook, when came across two vehicles – a black pickup truck and a white Lincoln MKZ – whose drivers appeared to be in a road rage incident.

The woman inadvertently ended up between the two vehicles in her own car, police said.

The man in the MKZ slammed on the brakes – causing the woman to make an evasive maneuver, police said.

As the woman passed the MKZ, the man driving it pointed a handgun at her, police said. Video was posted to social media, and the police released a still image.

Colonero's family has close ties to the Good Shepherd Church Naperville. We spotted a decal for the church on the door as we stopped by Thursday night.

Somebody came to the window at the Colonero home, but didn't open up. But all of this was seemingly of character to his neighbors.

"I was so surprised, like what was going on. I was like, whoa! This is our neighbor. For the most part I would say that he's a really nice family guy, hard worker, said neighbor Devin Martinez De Valdivielso. "From everything that happened, I'm not sure what was going on with him, but I definitely hope for the best for him."
