Warmer Temps Tuesday, But Scattered Showers Ahead

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Temperatures were making a big improvement in the Chicago area on Tuesday, but scattered showers will move through in the afternoon, and Wednesday will have rain on and off throughout the day.

After temperatures didn't get out of the 30s on Monday, the high was expected to reach 47 degrees by Tuesday afternoon. Skies will be sunny through the early afternoon, but a few scattered showers will arrive by late afternoon or early evening.

Wednesday will be even warmer, with a high near 56, but it will also be a wet day, with rain picking up overnight, and continuing on and off for most of the day.

Temperatures will be colder again on Thursday, with a high in the low 40s, and a few more scattered showers possible at times.

The cold trend will continue through Sunday morning, with temperatures lingering in the high 20s to mid 30s from late Thursday night through late Sunday morning, and flurries or snow showers possible on Friday.
