Warm And Rainy Weekend Ahead

CHICAGO (CBS) -- After a week of mostly chilly weather, temperatures have warmed up just in time for the weekend, but unfortunately it will be raining on and off for much of the weekend.

While skies will be cloudy for most of Friday afternoon, Chicagoans will get to enjoy much warmer temperatures than the rest of the week, with a high of about 78 by late afternoon.

By Friday night, though, rain could move in to the Chicago area, as temperatures drop into the 60s, and Saturday will bring a return of cloudy skies.

Saturday's high will be about 82 degrees, but showers could filter in late Saturday morning, bringing a chance for storms. The rain likely will come and go throughout Saturday afternoon.

Sunday brings a larger mass of showers to Chicago, with the potential for some severe storms in the area, and highs in the upper 70s.

Thankfully, dryer conditions will return early next week.

Temperatures will climb to the mid 70s on Monday, but then be significantly cooler on Tuesday, with a high of only about 58.
