Wade Family Hosts Prayer Breakfast For Nykea Aldrige

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Wade family hosted Saturday a church event to honor the life of Nykea Aldridge.

Originally a prayer service for women, but in a time of faith, the Wade family use this time of prayer for Nykea Aldridge, CBS 2's Lauren Victory reports.

32-year-old Nykea Aldridge was pronounced dead Friday night at Stroger Hospital shortly after someone shot her in the Washington Park Neighborhood.

Aldridge was pushing a stroller near an elementary school when police said two men approached and fired shots. They believe the intended target was the man Aldridge was walking with, but the shooters missed their target.

"She wasn't bothering nobody," said Jolinda Wade, family spokesperson. 'She was just going to register her children when bullets fly around and found her head."

Dwyane Wade took to Twitter in response to death of his cousin.

Police said they are questioning a number of people. There have been no arrests as of Saturday morning.

The prayer service for Nykea Aldridge began at 8:30 Saturday morning.
