Water service returns in eastern part of Dixmoor following main burst

Water main break repaired in Dixmoor, service restored

DIXMOOR, Ill. (CBS) – Water services in eastern Dixmoor resumed late Sunday after being shut down following another water main break, according to a release from the village.

"Service has been restored for all Dixmoor residents," Village President Fitzgerald Roberts said in a news release. "I appreciate everyone's patience as we worked to get this situation resolved. There is no boil water order in effect at this time."

The burst happened on 142nd Street and Winchester Avenue, resulting in no water services for the entire eastern half of Dixmoor.

Crews repaired the main, and service was restored within a few hours. No boil order was issued.

The main break comes a week after water in south suburban Dixmoor was shut off when a leak on Spaulding Avenue resulted in low water pressure for most residents – resulting in a two-day boil water.

Last October, residents were without normal pressure for a week after a water main issue in Harvey.
