View: Blackhawks Grace Cover Of Sports Illustrated After Winning Cup

(CBS) The Blackhawks clinched their third Stanley Cup in six seasons with a 2-0 win against the Lightning in Game 6 on Monday night, and now they're garnering the notoriety that comes along with being hockey's modern dynasty.

The Blackhawks grace the national cover of this week's Sports Illustrated, with a picture of Duncan Keith roofing one past the glove of Lightning goalie Ben Bishop for the winning goal taking the honors.

SI staffers had to work quickly to get the Blackhawks on the cover because of its early Tuesday deadline. What was usually a half-day process or longer was squeezed into two hours, assistant managing editor Steve Cannella told si.com.

"To be able to capture a championship moment on our cover in such a timely way is a rare and special opportunity for us," Cannella said. "We held the magazine open six hours past our usual Monday night deadline, and thanks to some quick work from photo editor Claire Bourgeois, we had Jeff Haynes's beautiful cover shot of Duncan Keith's game-winning goal picked and ready to go before the Cup was even on the ice for the post-game celebration (and not because the Cup's arrival was delayed)."
