Vietnam 'Moving Wall' Stops In Berwyn Through Monday

(CBS) -- The Vietnam Veterans' "Moving Wall" is being displayed through Monday in Berwyn's Proksa Park.

Thursday evening, Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Ryan Pitts was among those who welcomed the traveling display to the park, at 30th Street and Wisconsin Avenue in the western suburb.

Mayor Robert Lovero honored Pitts, saying, "You are making us proud."

But Pitts, a staff sergeant who earned his medal in combat in Afghanistan, told the crowd that the ones who deserve the thanks are Vietnam veterans, both those who died at war and are commemorated on the Wall, and those who attended Thursday's ceremony.

Pitts said that because of lessons learned in Vietnam, today's military is better trained and better prepared to fight guerrilla wars and battle terrorists.
