VIDEO: The Mesmerizing Marina City Documentary From 1965

"This is Marina City... Living towers with form suggesting the upward grace of growing branches and the airy, open form of a sunflower petal..."

Even for the eclectic Chicago skyline, Marina City stands out. Made famous by a movie, commercial and a Wilco album, the two towers of Marina City embody a kind of character unique to Chicago.

Also, wow, they're just plain beautiful.

In 1965, Marina City -- a Bertrand Goldberg design -- starred in its very on documentary, "This is Marina City."

The documentary is as hokey as you might expect a documentary from the '60s to be. It's also mesmerizing, probably because of its unique subject and the clear excitement Chicago had for Marina City at the time of its inception.
