Video Shows Aide Shoving Student; Man Arrested On Abuse Charge

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee police say a teacher's aide was arrested after pushing a student to the floor in an incident caught on video.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the incident happened Wednesday at Bay View High School. The unidentified aide was arrested on suspicion of physical abuse of a child.

Police say the student was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

According to CBS 58 WDJT-TV, students say the teacher and 14-year-old had been arguing back and forth for quite some time. The video does not show the moments leading up to the altercation, but classmates say the student was being "disrespectful" to the teachers aide.

The boy kicked at the man and gets slammed onto a desk and pushed to the floor by his neck.

The man is swearing and using a racial slur. (Discretion advised).

Milwaukee Public Schools spokesman Tony Tagliavia said the staff member faces disciplinary action, which includes possible termination.

He says the aide was removed from the classroom as soon as school administration knew about the incident.

Tagliavia called the incident "deeply disturbing."

The incident remains under investigation.
