Vehicle Falls On, Kills Man In Chicago Lawn

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man died Thursday afternoon when the vehicle he was repairing crushed him in the Southwest Side Chicago Lawn neighborhood, police said.

Jeffrey Ellis, 48, was working on the vehicle at 1:15 p.m. in the 6600 block of South Homan Avenue when it fell on him, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office. He was pronounced dead at the scene, which is a block south of his home, the medical examiner's office said.

An autopsy for Ellis is scheduled for Friday.
