Valentine's Day Dance, Chicago 1948

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Ah, Valentine's Day.

Remember when men dressed up in a suit, sipped icy-cold Cokes and danced with their dates?

Neither do we.

So, here is how young men and women celebrated on Feb. 14, 1948.

The scene is a Valentine's Dance, sponsored by the University Of Illinois-Chicago at Navy Pier.

That year, a temporary branch of the University of Illinois was established at Navy Pier to accommodate the increasing number of GI Bill students returning from war.
